We are trying to configure On Perm to Azure Always On. But I have few questions which I am not able to get an answer so far.
Scenario: We are trying to use Always on AG to replicate our data to client which is in Azure using different domain.
Steps we are trying to implement:
1) Install SQL 2017 on VM on Perm and add WSFC role and enable Always On.
2) Install SQL 2017 on Azure VM and add WSFC role and enable Always On.( Iaas)
3) Configure S2S VPN
4) Add Replica to AG.
Here are my questions:
1) Since we have two different domain ( lets says our on perm is ABC.com and Client is using xyz.com ) are there any additional steps we need to look after while configuring WSFC on the servers?
2) Are there any hidden network challenges while implementing this solution?
3) Do we need any certificates to be installed since this is a multi domain configuration?
