Hello,
I am decommissioning 2 nodes AlwaysOn cluster with SQL Server 2014 - 20 cores each server.
and I am building new 2 nodes AlwaysOn cluster with SQL server 2016 - 20 cores each server.
My question is: when I decommissions the old servers (2014) is this going to free up the licenses automatically? or do I have to Un-install the SQL instances on old server (2014) in order for licenses to be released/free?
I would like to understand how does this work. Please let me know
