Hi,
I would like to know if it is common to have a SQL Server Insance restart due to resizing the OS disk (C:).
Setup is SQL Instance (2014 EE) on Windows 2012R2 two node Failover Cluster. Nodes are VMs (VMware) and C disk is vmdk.
After resizing C: cluster lost connection to all disks and this restarted SQL instance. I am not looking for a solution here as it is obvious what the root cause is and what happened. What I would like to know is if this is a normal case and if rthere is a document advising not to to make hot changes on disks. I must add here that paging file is located on C and I am aware that in older Windows versions this could happen.
Thank you in advance,
Marios
