Hi,
We are having a 2 node Sql Server 2008 R2 clustered instance(default) running on Windows server 2008 R2. Now there is a
requirement for a new instance. My questions are
1)Should we have a second MSDTC(distributed transaction coordinator) service for the new instance and hence a new shared disk for the same?
2)If we install MSTDC for each instance in the cluster how to assign each MSTDC for the corresponding instance?
3)In one of the Microsoft sites it was mentioned that we can have only one instance per cluster resource. When I did the second
instance in the lab the sql server cluster resource group name was automatically taken as the given instance name of the second
instance. Is there a way to create a cluster resource group before the installation of Sql server failover cluster installation and then
assign its resource like the instance service,MSDTC etc to it?
Thanking you in anticipation,
Binny Mathew.
