Fail-over clustering with SQL Always-on And quorum settings

Hi ,

I am creating a failover clustering with SQL Always-on

  • The initial setup will have 3 nodes
  • 2 nodes in 1 rack and 1 node(used for standby in case of disaster  ) in different rack
  • My question is should I create quorum for this setup. My understanding is for even nodes quorum is mandatory to create and  for odd nodes the third machine can  acts a quorum, Please correct me here and let me know the possible scenarios to create a failover cluster with always-on with this setup
  • If I want to add another node to this environment 4TH Node to this cluster in future which is in a different datacenter what can I do with the quorum settings

thanks

Ranjith
