Two site SQL Database

Hello everybody,

I'm not expert of SQL Server and I tried since days to configure what I want but I'm block.

I have two sites with 2 Windows server 2012 R2 standard in each site.

Both site are network connected and we have one application for both site.

this application is connected to one database.

we have SQL Server 2014 standard edition and we use database mirroring. We would like if the connection between both site is cut that both site can continue to work and when they reconnect that both data created during the connection lost are merged. and synchronized. So it's like one active instance on each site but with the same database.

I tried Failover cluster active/active but then I have two SQL instance so that mean each site has his own database and we would like to have just one database.

I didn't find something fit to our needs. I have think to mix failover and replication but I'm not sure it's the good way to do it.

Can someone give me advice on the good way to do it?

Thank you,
