SQL Server Cluster

Hello Experts,

we are using Windows server 2008 R2 cluster, upon that, sql server 2008 R2 cluster with enterprise edition.

we are using a two node cluster with a single instance (active passive).

one of the nodes went down and due to hardware issue, we are not able to recover the node.

Now SQL is online and working fine on the other node.

So, we are planning to remove the failed cluster node from windows cluster and build a new node with same IP address. In this case, what should be the steps that we need to take care from SQL database end. Should we perform the below steps or any other solution recommended:

1. Remove the node from SQL cluster

2. Remove the node from Windows cluster

3. Add new node to windows cluster

4. Add new node to SQL cluster

If I am wrong please suggest the recommended steps.

Cheers, Vinod Mallolu
