Hello,
I initially tried installing 1st node of a SQL 2008 cluster on Windows 2008 r2 cluster but got an error message just prior it finishing which looked like was a bug in that it needed to be slipstreamed. I then uninstalled this failed SQL cluster installation what looks like completed. I slipstreamed the setup files and am stepping through the SQL installation steps and now on "Cluster Resource Group" portion which have some errors as:
Top portion: (Other than the 2 usual red stop buttons 'Cluster Group' & Available Storage' there are 2 more red stop buttons listed within this top portion as):
-SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) | The cluster group 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)' is not online. Bring the group online to continue.
-dbclusterMyDtc | The cluster group 'dbclusterMyDtc' contains resource 'IP Address ###.###.###.###' of type 'IP Address' that are not permitted in a SQL cluster group. Ensure the cluster group does not contain SQL resources from another instance or Generic Service types.
Then in the bottom portion highlighted in yellow there are 2 red X icons listed as:
-The cluster group 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)' is not online. Bring the group online to continue.
-The cluster group 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)' contains resource 'SQL Network Name (SQLMyName1)' of type 'Network Name' that are not permitted in a SQL cluster group. Ensure the cluster group does not contain SQL resources from another instance or Generic Service types.
It won't allow me to click the 'Next' button in continuing in that mentions these have to be fixed. Does it sound like that my earlier failed SQL cluster installation has the leftover instance remnants in that I should delete it from 'Services and applications' within the Windows Failover Cluster Manager?...or would this mess things up & should do something else?
